Students of the TKM School of Architecture, (Studio 3.0) have transformed Ahimsa, a performance venue in the Asramam Residency Ground, using trash and other discarded objects, into a clean recreation space with bins for litter.

Here’s the second video of three I made, also in Malayalam, on Subid Ahimsa‘s session with children at 8 Point Art Cafe, Kollam, narrated by Sasikumar Vallikkatte. Subid makes ingenious toys from trash and has a calm and quiet way of dealing with children. At a time when the whole world is trying to figure out how to deal with the waste humans generate, Subid’s work is of great importance particularly in Kerala where consumerism is going overboard.

The dredger that surprised Kollam

A dredger drifted onto Kollam beach and ‘showed’ how vulnerable our coasts are, and how any disruption to the longshore drift will have serious implications on the coastline and its communities. I made a short video on this.
